ආරම්භය
වර්ෂ 2000 පෙබරවාරි මස 15 වන දින ආරම්භ කරන ලද වයඹ ජාතික අධ්යාපන විද්යාපීඨය, ශ්රී ලංකාවේ, ගුරු සේවය සඳහා පූර්ව සේවා ගුරු අධ්යාපනය ලබා දෙන ආයතන අතරට එක් විය.
බඳවාගැනීම්
අ.පො.ස උසස් පෙළ ලකුණු පදනම් කර ගනිමින් දිස්ත්රික් පදනම මත හෝ ප්රාදේශීය ලේකම් කොට්ඨාශ පදනම් කරගෙන බඳවා ගනු ලබන ගුරු අධ්යාපන පාඨමලාව වර්ෂ 3 කි. එයින් වර්ෂ දෙකක් විද්යාපීඨය තුළ නේවාසිකව සිටිය යුතු අතර පාඨමාලාවේ ඉතිරි වසරක කාලය රජයේ පාසලක පූර්ණ කාලීනව ගුරුවරයෙක් වශයෙන් සේවය කළ යුතුය. මෙම වසරක කාලය සීමාවාසික පුහුණුව වශයෙන් හඳුන්වයි. නේවාසික කාලය තුළදී ආහාර පාන, නවාතැන්, වෛද්ය පහසුකම් නොමිළයේ ලබා දෙන අතර සීමාවාසික කාලය තුළ දී අදාල මුදල දීමනාවක් වශයෙන් ලබා දේ. මෙම පාඨමාළාව ඇගයීම් ආකාර දෙකකට සිදුවේ. විද්යාපීඨයේ පාඨමාලාව හදාරන අතරතුර කරනු ලබන අඛණ්ඩ ඇගයීම් සහ වර්ෂ දෙකේ පාඨමාලාව හැදෑරීමෙන් අනතුරුව විභාග දෙපොරතමේන්තුව මගින් පවත්වනු ලබන අවසාන විභාගයයි. මේ ආකාර දෙකෙන්ම ඇගයීම් සාර්ථකව සම්පූර්ණ කරන ගුරු අභ්යාසලාභීන්ට ජාතික ශික්ෂණ විද්යා ඩිප්ලෝමා සහතිකය ලබා ගත හැකිය. මෙම සුදුසුකම් සම්පූර්ණ කරන ගුරු අභ්යාසලාභීන්ට ශ්රී ලංකා ගුරු සේවයේ 3.2 ට අයුදුම් කිරීමට අවස්ථාව ලැබේ.
පරිපාලනය
අධ්යාපන අමාත්යංශයේ ගුරු අධ්යාපන හා විද්යාපීඨ ශාඛාව මගින් විද්යාපීඨ වල පරිපාලනය සිදුවන අතර ඒ සඳහා විද්යාපීඨ කොමසාරිස්වරයෙක් පත්කර සිටී. විද්යාපීඨ වල අධ්යාපන සංවර්ධන ක්රියාවලිය සම්පූර්ණ සැළසුම් මෙහෙයෙවීම සහ මඟ පෙන්වීම ජාතික අධ්යාපන ආයතනය මගින් සිදු වේ. පූර්ව සේවා ගුරු අධ්යාපනය ලබා දෙන ආයතනයක් ලෙස විද්යාපීඨය තුළ සියළු මානව සහ භෞතික සම්පත් වලින් සමන්විතය. ශ්රී ලංකා ගුරු අධ්යාපඥ සේවයේ නිළධාරීන් ඇතුළ විවිධ සේවා වල නිළධාරීන්ගෙන් සමන්විත සමස්ථ කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය 130 කට ආසන්න වේ. භෞතික සම්පත් අතර නේවාසිකාගාර, මුළුතැන්ගෙය, ආපන ශාලා, දේශන ශාලා, පන්ති කාමර, විද්යාගාර, පුස්තකාල, පරිගණක ඒකක, ශ්රව්ය දෘශ්ය ඒකක, භාෂාගාර, රංග ශාලා, සෞන්දර්යය ඒකක, ක්රීඩාගාර සහ ක්රීඩා පිටි ප්රධාන තැනත් ගනී.
පාඨමාලා
ආරම්භයේ දී සෞන්දර්ය සහ කතෝලික ධර්මය පාඨමාලාව සඳහා පමණක් අභ්යාසලාභීන් බඳවා ගත්ත ද පසුකාලීනව නැවතත් විවිධ පාඨමලා එක් විය. වර්තමානය වන විට එය චිත්ර. පෙරදිග සංගීතය, නැටුම්, නාට්ය හා රංග කලාව, කතෝලික හා ක්රිස්තියානි ධර්මය සහ ප්රාථමික අධ්යාපනය වැනි පාඨමාලා රාශියක් දක්වා වර්ධනය වී ඇත. ආරම්භක යුගයේ එක් අධ්යයන වර්ෂයක් සඳහා සිසුන් 180 කට ආසන්න ප්රමාණයක් බඳවා ගත් අතර ක්රමයෙන් එම සංඛ්යාව වැඩි කරමින් එක් අධ්යයන වර්ෂයක් සඳහා ගුරු සිසුන් 300 කට ආසන්න සංඛ්යාවක් පාඨමාලා සඳහා බඳවා ගනු ලැබේ. මෙම පිරිස ඉදිරියේ රජයේ තීරණය මත සංශෝධනය විය හැකිය.
Established on 15th February 2000, the Wayamba College of Education became one of an institute to providing pre-service teacher education for teacher service in Sri Lanka.
Recruiting
The teacher education course is 3 years and is recruited based on G.C.E. (A/L) as well as two years should be in residence in the college and the remaining one year of the course should be spent as a full-time teacher in a government school. This one-year period is known as internship. Food, accommodation, medical facilities are provided free of charge during the residency period and the relevant amount is given as stipend during the internship period. This course is evaluated in two ways. It is the continuous assessment conducted during the course of the college and the final examination conducted by the examination department after the completion of the two-year course. Teacher trainees who successfully complete both of these assessments can earn the National Diploma in Teaching certificate. Teacher trainees who complete these qualifications will have the opportunity to apply to the Sri Lanka Government Teacher Service.
Administration
The administration of the colleges is done by the Teacher Education Branch of the Ministry of Education. The entire planning and guidance of the educational development process of colleges is done by the National Institute of Education (NIE). As an institution providing pre-service teacher education, the college is equipped with all human and physical resources. The staff of the Sri Lanka Teacher Education Service officers act as the lecturers and the total other staff appointed for various tasks is nearly 130. Among the physical resources, dormitories, kitchens, canteens, lecture halls, classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer units, audio-visual units, language rooms, theatres, aesthetic units, sports halls and playgrounds are prominent.
Courses
In the beginning, trainees were recruited only for the Aesthetics and Catholicism courses, but later on, various courses were added. Nowadays, it has grown into many courses like Art, Oriental Music, Dance, Drama and Theatre, Catholic and Christianity and Primary Education. In the initial period, nearly 180 students were enrolled for one academic year and gradually increasing the number, nearly 300 teacher students were enrolled for the courses for one academic year.
